The global electricity industry is going through a remarkable transformation driven by IoT, Smart Cities and Smart Grid. Electricity demand response is a the center of this transformation as it is going from a “silo” application to one of a portfolio of distributed energy resources (DER) solutions.
Ross Malme presented on the storied history of demand response in US wholesale electricity markets in Austin at the 4th National Conference on Next Generation Demand Response. His presentation carried DR through its evolution as a component of DER . He was also a guest speaker at EUCI’s Flexible and Fast Response Controllable Resources conference in San Diego, Ca. in September and again at the Demand Response & DER World Forum in Chicago in October. In addition, Ross discussed the implications for utility regulatory policy, business models and sustainability.
